2008-01-16 Medellin, Colombia. Barrio Popular and it's surrounding neighbourhoods have been the most dangerous and violent slums of Medellin for more than a decade. A few years ago the city started an ambitious plan to upgrade the area by improving infrastructure and many social housingplans. The results so far are astonishing. It has become a lively neighbourhood where comunity leaders work together with former gangmembers to build houses and parks. Safety has increased dramatically.
